Why see The Crucible?
The Crucible Globe Season
Ola Ince's incredible production of the Arthur Miller classic is coming to The Globe this summer after a triumphant run at the Gielgud Theatre, for nine weeks only as part of the venue's 2025 Summer Season! With a creative team featuring some of contemporary theatre's best talent, including Assistant Director Lindsay McAllister and Composer Renell, don't miss your chance to experience this searing allegory once more.
What is the story?
After a group of Salem village girls are discovered dancing in the forest, cries of witchcraft fill the air and the resulting historic witch hunt ensnares local farmer John Proctor and initial accuser Abigail Williams in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Weaving together poignant themes of hysteria, intolerance, reputation, social status, and justice, The Crucible holds as much relevancy today as it did when it debuted in 1953. Originally written as an allegory for the Red Scares and McCarthyism in America, its portrayal of the Salem Witch trials mirrors a modern world in which the truth and fiction are indistinguishable, where those in power do not necessarily hold the moral high ground.
