Robert Lindsey takes the lead as the renowned cinematographer
Hampstead Theatre kicks off their 2017/18 season with Terry Johnson's poignant new play that looks at the later life of legendary movie cinematographer Jack Cardiff, starring stage and TV favourite, Robert Lindsay. Last seen in the West End musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,Lindsay turns his considerable talents to drama, where he will be joined from this September by Claire Skinner, Rebecca Knight and Barnaby Kay in supporting roles.
Having retired to the idyllic surrounds of Denham, Buckinghamshire, Jack Cardiff is looking forward to a peaceful retirement, where he is looking forward to writing his autobiography. Famed as much for his artistic work on movies such as The Red Shoes, The African Queen and The Prince And The Showgirl as he was for his playboy liasons with some of the world's leading ladies, one would think that he has a plethora of material to work with. Unfortunately, Jack would rather be reliving his experiences for real, rather than writing them down.
