Why see Romeo and Juliet?

West End Debuts For This Talented Pair

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet returns to London once more in 2026, this time starring Stranger Things' Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe as the famous star-crossed lovers in a new production directed by the multi-award-winning Robert Icke. A classic that continues to enthrall audiences, some 430 years since it was first written, discover the tale anew as these two bright young acting talents play a pair of sweethearts torn asunder by their families' decades-long feud.

Known for her turn in the hit Netflix show, Sink has recently been honing her stage skills on Broadway, earning a Tony Nomination for her role in John Proctor is The Villain. On the news of this exciting new staging at the Harold Pinter Theatre, she commented: "I've always dreamed about doing a show in the West End...London theatre has this incredible energy, and I can't wait to be a part of it." A sentiment echoed by her co-star Jupe (The Night Manager, Hamnet), who said: "Theatre is something I've always been intrigued by. It seems like such a challenging and rewarding experience for an actor. So I was very excited to hear about this project. The combination of Romeo, Rob, and Sadie is an opportunity you simply cannot turn down."

What Is The Story?

In 16th-century Verona, there are heated tensions between sworn enemies, the Montagues and the Capulets. Their vicious hatred of one another is famed throughout the city, as is their often fatal swordplay. Romeo, the youngest of the Montague clan, is depressed after falling for a girl who spurned his advances. Persuaded by cousin Tybalt, he sneaks into a Capulet ball in the hopes of finding her, that is, until he sees Juliet and falls deeply and immediately in love.

So begins a tale that has gone on to become our greatest, tragic story of young love doomed from the start.
