Coming to the West End's Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is Jocelyn Bioh's Jaja's African Hair Braiding! Jocelyn Bioh is a Ghanaian-American writer and actor, and penned the emotional comedy School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, which won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play. Meanwhile, this play is set to be directed by Monique Touko, winner of Best Director at The Stage Debut Awards 2022 for Malindadzimu at the Hampstead Theatre.

What's It About?

Pushy customers, hidden truths, bursts of laughter, and stinging betrayalsset in Jaja's Harlem braiding salon, the play follows the lives of the local women as they exist in the salon and the West African immigrant braiders as they create incredible works of art with their clients' hair. Love, dreams, and the reality of life all come into question in this stunning show.
