Spanning decades from 1950s suburban America to the chaos and change of modern life, The Smile of Her explores everything from family expectations and misogyny to motherhood, ambition and the exhausting pressure to always be “a good girl.” At its heart is one woman asking a simple question: what happens when you stop smiling to make everyone else comfortable?
