Why see The Land Of The Living?

BAFTA Nominee Juliet Stevenson Stars In Devastating New Play At The National Theatre

BAFTA Award nominee Juliet Stevenson stars in David Lan's scintillating new play, coming to the National Theatre this Autumn. A sharply focused morality tale of a young boy stolen away from his family in the Second World War, The Land Of The Living is directed by Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry (The Jungle). This is set to be truly unmissable theatre.

What Is The Story?

It's the end of the Second World War. Thomas, a young boy spirited away from his family and home by the Nazis, is now being looked after by Ruth, an aid worker for the UN. As the war comes to an end, she must make a life-changing choice: who should take care of Thomas? Many years later, in London, Thomas and Ruth's lives connect once again - and the choice she made for him as a young woman will be brought to the light, as she faces her morality and the shifting sands of her memories.

If you like contemporary drama that gets under your skin without shouting about it, this is well worth your evening. ... Read more
