The Effect

The Effect at National Theatre, Lyttelton

Why see The Effect?

love on antidepressants

Lucy Prebble's 2012 play The Effect returns to the National Theatre this summer, revived by acclaimed director Jamie Lloyd. Specialising in a unique, modern expressionist style, the multi-Olivier award winner's revival of this drug-trial romance is certainly to breathe fresh new air into this critically acclaimed piece of theatre.

The narrative revolves around Connie and Tristan, a couple who are romantically drawn to each other during an antidepressant drug trial. However, their blossoming affection is thrown into doubt as they begin to question whether their affection stems from genuine emotion or merely a consequence of the medication they're testing. Starring Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Michele Austin, Paapa Essiedu and Taylor Russell, don't miss this exciting new take!
