William Gibson's compelling New York play Two for the Seeswaw is given the Russian twist by celebrated theatre company, Sovremennik Theatre. Performed entirely in Russian, this production is directed by Galina Volchek, co-founder of the company as part of a triple bill that takes over the Piccadilly Theatre following the departure of Jersey Boys. With the action still taking place in New York, we follow an intense and tempestuous affair between a brooding Nebraska lawyer who fled his marriage to the Big Apple and a dancer that he meets randomly at a party. However their happiness is short-lived when their respective pasts come to the fore.
Acclaimed Russian actors Chulpan Khamatova and Kirill Safanov take on the two leads that were first originated in the 1958's premiere Broadway run by Henry Fond and Anne Bancroft. Two For The Seesaw is the second play of the three productions, preceded by Three Comrades and followed later in May by Sovremennik's celebrated production of Chekhov's Three Sisters, which won over critics in New York.
