Mel Brooks Live In London

Mel Brooks Live In London at Prince of Wales Theatre

Why see Mel Brooks Live In London?

His first-ever London show!

The legendary film director of such treats as The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein will present his first-ever one-man show in London, at the Prince of Wales Theatre on 22nd March. One of only a few artists to have been awarded Tony, Emmy, Grammy and Academy Awards, he may be well-known for his movie work, but a large proportion of modern musical and comedy theatre owe him their success. This one-man show will take an irreverent look back at Brooks' early life and career, and promises to be a night you will never forget.

More about Mel

Brooklyn-born in 1926, the then-named Melvin Kaminsky grew up learning to play the drums from Buddy Rich and became a local comic in his area as well as serving in the armed forces during World War 2. With success on Broadway, he turned his comedic writing skills to television and film in the Fifties and Sixties, before launching his own production company in the late Seventies, Brooksfilms, which along with his famous comedy films, also spawned more dramatic works such as 1980's The Elephant Man, To Be or Not to Be in 1983 (where he co-starred with wife, the late actress Anne Bancroft) and The Fly in 1986. His success with films being adapted for the musical stage has been phenomenal, and saw him garner two Grammy Awards for his production of The Producers on Broadway in 2001, which won a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards and is considered one of the most successful musicals ever created.
