Stage Adaptation Arrives Off-West End
Interview is a taut new stage adaptation of Theo van Gogh's provocative 2003 film, reimagined for the theatre by director Teunkie Van Der Sluijs. Set in a single night inside a Manhattan apartment, this psychological thriller stars Tony winner Robert Sean Leonard (The Invention of Love) and Paten Hughes as two people locked in a tense battle of words and shifting power. With a design team including Derek McLane (scenic design), Jackie Shemesh (lighting) and Bernat Buscato (costumes), the production updates and heightens the claustrophobic drama of a seemingly simple interview that unravels into something far more toxic.
What Is The Story?
Katya is a social media icon turned actress, determined to reclaim her narrative after years of reductive media coverage from male reporters. When Pierre Peters, a disillusioned political journalist, arrives to profile her, neither expects the encounter to evolve into a brutal exchange of manipulation and control, when what begins as a clash of egos becomes an unsettling exploration of media distortion.
