One of this generation's most important choreographers
Why see Wayne McGregor: Alchemies?
A World Premiere
The Royal Ballet's resident choreographer Sir Wayne McGregor CBE showcases a world premiere new work alongside two other boundary-pushing pieces in Alchemies. A visionary who has re-defined modern dance, McGregor's dynamic style and collaborative approach has had a huge impact beyond dance and across all cultural mediums, be it his movement and choreography work in film (Harry Potter, Sing), music (Radiohead, The Chemical Brothers), and his unique collaborations with architects, fashion houses, scientists, writers such as Margaret Atwood and sporting events, including the London 2012 Olympics.
Returning to the Royal Ballet stage, his brand new work as part of Alchemies sits alongside Yugen, set to Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and created for the 2018 Bernstein centenary celebrations, and his 2023 untitled collaboration with visual artist Carmen Herrera, set to a score by Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir.
