Guys and Dolls

Why see Guys and Dolls?

THE HIT REVIVAL COMES TO LONDON THIS winter!

For tickets to the Phoenix Theatre run (March 19th - October 30th, 2016 Click here)

Chichester Festival Theatre's hit revival of this West End favourite swings into the Savoy Theatre for a very limited run this Winter, before moving onto the Phoenix Theatre. Starring Sophie Thompson and Jamie Parker, this is a red-hot sizzler of a musical that tells of gamblers, gangsters and nightclub singers. It's already made some major waves in the industry, earning itself six Olivier nominations including Best Musical Revival!

The glorious soundtrack will include some Broadway and West End favourites such as Luck be a Lady, Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat and My Time of Day, and will be choreographed by none other than Cuban ballet icon, Carlos Acosta.

WHAT IS guys & dolls ABOUT?

We follow the story of footloose gambler, Nathan Detroit and his night club singer fiancee of 14 years, Miss Adelaide, whose patience is wearing rather thin with his feckless activities. But their lives are turned upside down when Nathan meets a fellow gambler, Sky Masterson and bets him $1000 that he cannot take a girl of his choice out for dinner. Brimming with exuberant self confidence, Sky agrees, only to find that the doll in question is the gorgeous yet icy "doll" Sarah Brown.

Will Sky succeed in his quest to melt her heart? Or will Nathan finally get his act together and make an honest woman out of Miss Adelaide? Well, we're certainly not going to give anything away, except that this is one heck of a thrill-ride through gangster-era New York, that can leave hearts aflame, or broken on the ground.

Premiering last Christmas at Chichester, the original leads will be reprising their roles for this West End engagement, joined by the original production team and director, the venerable New Yorker Gordon Greenberg, who has seen success on Broadway with this show, as well as retooling Disney's Tangled into an upcoming stage musical. Carlos Acosta will be choreographing the musical with the help of "Singin' In The Rain"'s Andrew Wright.

nostalgic silly fluff

The Savoy Theatre has been making a name for itself lately as the home of London's mid 20th Century revivals, seeing off a barn stomping Gypsy late last year and expecting Funny Girl with Sheridan Smith in the spring.

Groundbreaking

Just the three visits for me, all immersive, and planning more. As a seasoned theatre goer I've never left a theatre on such a high, Mormon, Hamilton....etc...all excellent but this just raises the bar, took me days to recover. I now have the cast recording to keep me going in between visits! Quite possibly the best thing I've ever seen on stage/stages, you get so involved, you know the characters and I got to dance (briefly) with Miss Adelaide at the end. The entire production is utterly magnificant and the design/layout at the Bridge theatre has set the standard. ... Read more

Absolutely brilliant!

I'm not a great fan of musicals tbh, but this production of Guys and Dolls at the Bridge theatre was terrific. The vocals, particularly by Cedric, were stunning. The cast seemed to be really enjoying the performance and this was truly infectious. Would highly recommend this fantastic immersive experience. ... Read more

Easily the best thing I've ever seen

Easily the best thing I’ve ever seen. I had an immersive ticket and would recommend this - try to stand near the middle - incredibly exciting, I was grinning from start to finish. Acting, choreography, singing, live band - all mwah mwah mwah. You even get to dance at the end. It’s utterly irresistible, every song’s a banger and VOICES people - talent everywhere you look. Yes I loved the *rocking* rocking the boat number and everything that Adelaide sings, and the crazy night in Havana - who doesn’t love pure sass on a stick? But for me, the More I cannot give you song was the loveliest moment - such a cute dad figure. I doubt you’ll be able to get a ticket any more, but if you can you’ll be saying ‘I do’ all the way. ...
