An Inspector Calls Back at Courtyard Theatre London

Why see An Inspector Calls Back?

BRAND NEW COMEDY: AN INSPECTOR CALLS BACK BY MIRANDA WALKER. DIRECTED BY PAUL MILTON

Fresh, contemporary and full of heart. Childcare just got funny.

Brand new, laugh-out-loud comedy set at a pre-school where bureaucracy's gone mad, nobody?ssure what's PC anymore and the committee want to ban yoghurt on the grounds of safety.

It's the evening between a two day Ofsted inspection. As nerves fray, tempers simmer and thestraight-talking deputy refuses to toe the line, will the control-freak playleader go on holiday andsave her marriage, or lose everything to save the group? Can the feisty assistant and cautiousmanager really get together? And will trainee Kylie ever stay out of the ball-pool?

This is a London debut for playwright Miranda Walker, a member of the Writers' Lab at Cheltenham Everyman Theatre, who has recently worked as a gag writer for production company TIDY, ownedby David Peet and Ruth Jones (of GAVIN AND STACEY). Before writing full time, Miranda owned a children's day nursery for thirteen years and also worked as an Ofsted inspector. She says, 'I'vebeen the nursery worker whose face drops when they realise it's Ofsted at the door, and I?ve been the inspector waiting on the doorstep. The stress is undeniable, and wherever there's tension, there's a comedy begging to be written...I couldn?t resist it any longer!'
