The rarely seen singer, songwriter and modern day poet, Ralph McTell performs songs from his 50-year career such as 'Streets of London' to celebrate his 70th birthday. Despite much of his material being hard to locate, his influential, multi-disciplinary music has influenced hundreds of folk singers in Great Britain, Europe, and the U.S. Fortunately, people worldwide are beginning to connect to his vast body of excellent original work, and not just "Streets," which has been recorded more than 200 times by artists as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin!

ABOUT MCTELL

Despite being notoriously reclusive, McTell's music has been highly influential to other artists, and has been celebrated asuch. His songs are semi-autobiographical, recalling events from his childhood, where his mother was left to bring up two boys after his father left. Notably he write a song about the infamous case involving Derek Bentley and Christopher Craig; his mother having knew the Bentley family, he was compelled at the young age of eight by the injustice of Bentley's death sentence. The sense of injustice can be found in the song that he wrote, "Bentley & Craig".
