Why see All The Things We Can't Explain?

A Tribute To Kilburn

Celebrating local heritage as part of The Kilburn High Road Festival, Kiln Theatre’s community production All The Things We Can’t Explain launches the theatre’s new season with a bang. Written by Sonia Jalaly (Jack and the Beanstalk, Lyric Hammersmith) and co-directed by Kane Husbands and Izzy Rabey, the ambitious play brings together a huge company of eighty intergenerational local cast members, with actors’ ages ranging from eighty-eight right the way down to six-years-old. A powerful and creative celebration of community resilience and shared history, come welcome in the new season with this immense production.

What Is The Story?

Kilburn stands at a tipping point, as corporate developers circle like vultures and local establishments are facing closure, under the guise of rejuvenation. The all too familiar story appears to only be heading to one conclusion, until a surreal marvel suddenly appears: the literal, live beating heart of Kilburn. As news of this bizarre phenomenon spreads, the neighborhood must rally to protect their home and community from being erased.
