Rajiv Joseph's extraordinary Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-nominated play comes to London for its European premiere, opening at the Young Vic Theatre this Winter. Helmed by Omar Elerian and featuring David Threlfall, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo is a darkly comic examination of the US' invasion of Iraq. This singular piece of writing is the definition of must-see theatre.
In the chaos of Baghdad following invasion by the USA, a tiger prowls the streets. American marines Tom and Kev find their lives are irrevocably altered following a chance encounter with the strange creature, with Kev unable to escape from the stalking, talking ghost of the great animal. As Tom pulls Kev into a search for a fabled solid-gold toilet seat that will make him rich, they find themselves on a collision course with translator Musa - and all their lives will change yet again.
