NO SOCIAL DISTANCING

I was really looking forward to this - particularly as it had been understandably delayed due to Covid. I don’t know if it was because it’s a preview but it all felt very haphazard - like it wasn’t really ready to open. The actors absolutely tried their best but even they seemed sometimes lost. At times we were left wandering around really not having any idea of what we should be doing or where we should be. And sadly absolutely no social distancing - I struggled to understand how it met Covid restrictions - and sadly I just didn’t therefore feel safe. Personally I would give this a few months to get going and for restrictions to ease.

DISAPPOINTING

My daughter really enjoyed it but I have to agree with the previous that it was really chaotic and disorganised. Parts were interesting and the alien singers in the bar were worthy of 5/5 but overall it was very disappointing. I am worried that I'll be getting a message soon on my Covid app telling me I need to self isolate as social distancing went totally out of the window and I was very close to over 50 different people at different times during the show. Shame, as it had so much potential.

NOT AS GOOD AS EXPECTED

Was very hard to understand lots of action at the same times by different actor's.... hard to hear at times due to to many people acting at one time and all shouting or talking.... was expecting more monsters only a few cyberman seen but was ushered out to the next room when they arrived so hardly saw them same as the darliks.. had done good parts in it.... drinks very expensive 2. 50 a can of coke .... gift shop did hardly any items no sonic screwdrivers overall on a scale of 1 to 10 it would come in as a 3 pushing a 4

GREAT PRODUCTION VALUES - NOT SUCH A GREAT STORY

Wonderful, enthusiastic performances by the cast and strong production values couldn't hide an overblown story with odd pacing issues. Some scenes, especially the ending one, drag on forever and our group agreed that we all lost focus. In dire need of a script editor and more set piece scenes like the weeping angels one. Overall, very talky with good effects, but everything is so loud with multiple things happening at once that I felt I missed a lot. The actors were all fantastic though and you can see that it is a labour of love, but more for those steeped in Doctor Who lore than a a New Who viewer, who might find it too confusing.

NOT COVID SAFE

We went there this Sunday. Even though the production itself was great and immersive, but I must say it was not that Covid safe. Although all the visitors were all wearing masks, none of the actors were wearing masks, for the dramatic performance, most of actors had to shout and I could even see their spit in the air. There was no social distance, almost everyone had to stand very closely to each other, shoulder to shoulder. One point, we were taken to the inside of tent where 20 people were all standing there again shoulder to shoulder. Would that even allowed in this Covid time? We were so stressed with this lack of any safety measure. It was too chaotic, too much noise was going on constantly everywhere, too difficult to concentrate on the actor’s talking with the loud background noise.

CONFUSING AND LONG

I share the thoughts of most of the other raters - production values were fantastic, but I had no idea what was happening. I think we were unlucky as we got caught in a stalling tactic - a lengthy scene that had nothing to do with the story - and my only guess is that it was to pace us out. But it meant we missed 50% of the experience of act 1. And I still don’t understand why you’d spend so much on dalexs, cybermen and angels if you only show them for a few seconds. The script was off the rails. In fact, I’m not even sure if there is one, or if it’s just improvisation around a theme. It was indulgent, windy & one note. The actors put their all into what they’ve been given to work with - but by the end I had not a clue what was going on and was waiting for it to finish. All effort on production, no effort on the actual experience of the audience. And to make costs meet- they ferry far too many people through - which leads to confusion and chaos. Disappointing.

RUB THE PALMS OF YOUR HANDS TOGETHER TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE!

The U.N.I.T scientists shout: "Brace yourselves!" So we grab onto a rail or a desk or something... And nothing happens. "Keep this space clear, everybody!" a scientist shouts. Is a Dalek coming? No. "Prepare to go through the time fracture. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." Oh, power failure, can't do it. Hey, look, a Dalek! But it's not moving and it's behind a gauze screen. Hey, there's a woman with a 3-D printed plastic ray gun - is she going to use it!?! No. Lookout it's a cyberman! On his own. Perhaps he's on his way to the toilets? Oh, no, we're trapped - in the bar, for half an hour! Hey the Time Lords are arguing about how to save the universe - blah, blah, on and on and on and on... Two and a half hours later... 1st Dr: "Well done!" 2nd Dr: "You've done it!" 3rd Dr: "You humans are so brave!" 4th Dr: etc, etc...
