FUN FOR THE UNINITIATED

Never watched Shakespeare before but David Walliams made this come alive for me and Sheridan Smith was enthusiastic and very watchable. The scene stealer, except for the beautiful boys in their underpants, was Katherine Kingsley as Helena who didn't deliver her lines at 100mph and took time to speak them to be understood, as did David. Her comedy timing almost equalled David's but he had us all in stitches. Loved it.

OVERALL DISAPPOINTING

Well this production had its enjoyable moments and Walliams and Smith do good turns but there is some very bad acting by some of the cast. Seems that the production doesnt really know what it is. '60 hippies for the fairies was predictable and cliched, direction v odd some people seemed to be going through the motions but without any meaning to their words or actions. Shame really as Sheridan Smith is a great actress and deseves better. The season has been a great idea however and 'Peter and Alice' was sublime.
