A revolutionary new play
Time Magazine
Don't miss the UK premiere of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winner Robert Frederic Schenkkan Jr's politically-driven new drama Building The Wall at London's Park Theatre this Summer. The prolific American playwright presents a dystopian vision of the very near future in Trump's America following critically acclaimed runs in New York and Los Angeles in 2017.
Rather than zeroing in on the chaos inside the oval office, Schenkkan focuses his action on two radically different characters. In this horrifyingly plausible future, Trump's xenophobic policies have set off a tragic series of events and prison officer Rick finds himself incarcerated and awaiting trial for a crime committed in reaction to them. The death-row inmate is visited by African American history professor, who interviews him for a future project. As she teases out his motivations and the crime becomes clear, the two find surprising common ground.
