DREADFULLY LOUD

The High octane volume of this terrible mishmash of pop songs was an assault on the ears - if you're over 25. The sets especially of the Paris skyline are spectacular. Otherwise a good storywas sidelined. The dialogue was lame with cliche after cliche about L'Amour. No chemistry between the leads. Even the sad ending felt fake. The character of Toulouse Lautrec had some merit. But hey wasn't Toulouse Lautrec a painter who hung with the women of the cabaret! Not a choreographer. Where did that come from. Dreadfull overall. Otherwise the theatre was very basic with few staff to be seen.

UNDERWHELMING

After a promising start, it just seemed to get worse and worse. The leads just didn't feel right and I felt no emotional connection to any of them. It felt chaotic. I couldn't wait to leave at the interval and was relieved I'd only spent 25 quid. PS...Grand Circle seats are just awful for this show The woman in front kept leaning forward to see, so her head blocked my view. Left feeling irritated but soon cheered up with some Japanese ramen. More enjoyable than the tepid soup of a show that is Moulin Rouge.

MOULIN ROUGE

The destruction of a perfectly good score! Appalling waste of time and frankly torture to sit through! Do not go and see it!

UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED

I cannot express my utter disappointment when watching this musical adaptation of the 2001 film. What should have been a beautiful love story is now a soulless piece of tacky theatre that lacks any heart or integrity. New songs that have barely any relevance to the storyline have been shoehorned in and characters that had depth and emotion on screen have been betrayed by a revised and (needlessly) updated script and storyline. The production left me cold.
