Sheldon's performance is fizzing with a carefully channeled energy throughout
Katie Rose, Broadway Baby
Naomi Sheldon brings her intimate coming-of-age story, Good Girl, to London after a successful debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017. Described as a storytelling theatre piece and directed by Matt Peover, Sheldon will perform her one-woman show at Trafalgar Studios in March. Trafalgar Studios is a unique space in the West End which has developed a reputation for innovative and provocative works. Good Girl fits this brief with a bold exploration of the female experience, particularly through the bounds of self-silence.
Naomi Sheldon will be joined by guest panelists for a series of post-show discussions tackling some of the key issues surrounding gender politics. These panel discussions, each on a different theme, will take place immediately following the production on 13th, 20th and 27th March 2018, and are open to ticket holders on these dates at no extra charge.
We all know one, a good girl, but how much do we really know her? What lies beneath the façade? How did she become known as the 'good girl' and what choices did she make to present herself that way? Good Girl is a darkly comic show about life as the titular phrase and the toll that takes. What does it mean to cut off your feelings just to fit in? This Good Girl can't understand what the emotions simmering inside her are and as they rise up, how to express them. Featuring a 90's soundtrack that will fill you with nostalgia and a character who confides in the audience as though to a diary, Sheldon's piece offers a timely perspective of womanhood.
Winner of Voice's Pick of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017. This story will resonate with both men and women, as we all face periods in our lives when we feel we can't or aren't allowed to express ourselves...
