Sara Bareilles Will Star As Jenna In Waitress

The Grammy nominee makes West End debut!

Not only did she pen the score but Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles will be making her West End debut as Jenna in the London production of Waitress! Bareilles will be joined by Broadway favourite (and another Waitress alum) Gavin Creel as Dr. Pomatter for a limited six-week run from 27th January!

The news comes after the original Broadway production announced that Katharine McPhee (who opened London's run) will return to Broadway as Jenna for their final months.

Bareilles will take over from current star Lucie Jones with Creel (who has starred as Dr. Pomatter on Broadway) taking over from David Hunter for the limited run. Although this will be Bareilles' West End debut, Creel will be making his West End return after being a part of the original London cast of the smash-hit musical, The Book of Mormon

This will be the second time that Bareilles has teamed up with Creel in the Jenna/Pomatter pairing as the duo starred alongside each other in the Broadway production in early 2019.

What is Waitress about?

Suffocated by both the small Southern town where she lives, and her controlling husband Earl, Jenna longs for escape. Her only solace comes from working in the local diner, where she can practice her passion for baking. Jenna's crumbly pastries and crinkly crusts are renowned the town over, and by a stroke of luck, they might just offer her an escape route! A pie-baking contest is announced in a nearby town, with a potentially life-changing cash prize for first place. Jenna realises this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity and is determined to grab it with both hands!

Waitress is now playing at the Adelphi Theatre.
