After a promising start, Old Vic confirms the work in progress musical will return

This exciting new musical draws to a close this weekend after a troubled yet shining preview period saw the show downgraded to a work in progress by Old Vic Artistic Director Matthew Warchus. Whilst illness and technical issues contributed to a patchy few weeks, our own reviewer Kitty thinks that it's safe to say that Sylvia is something special. Good news then, that Warchus has confirmed that he's in the 'early planning stages' to bring it back at some point in the future.
A retroactive biography of Sylvia Pankhurst and her family, Katie Prince's production uses an eclectic mix of song, dance, hip-hop, funk and soul to examine their incredible drive and advocacy for universal suffrage - think Hamilton with a much needed feminist perspective. For now, it needs trimming down and tightening up, but once it does, watch out Lin-Manuel!
