Gaten Matarazzo To Make West End Debut!
The Stranger Things and Broadway star crosses the pond to star in London's revival of Rent!
He's conquered the Upside Down, lit up Broadway and now Gaten Matarazzo is ready to take on London's West End! The new revival of Rent, which is set to open this fall, will see Gaten make his West End debutg as Mark Cohen!
Producer Luke Sheppard said today: "This is Rent in the hands of a new generation of performers who love and adore this piece, and with Gaten Matarazzo playing Mark, it promises to be a thrilling experience."
Further casting is yet to be announced, with tickets now on sale!
What Is The Story Of Rent?
Like its inspiration, Puccini's La Boheme, Rent follows the lives of a band of bohemians who are struggling to keep their heads above water. In this version, they're living in modern-day New York, and the oppressive spectre of HIV/AIDs, rather than tuberculosis, hangs over them.
The starving artists include film-maker Mark, whose girlfriend Maureen has left him for another woman, and his HIV positive roommate Roger, who is trying to write "the" song before dying. Roger is also caught in the midst of a whirlwind relationship with S&M dancer and heroin addict Mimi.
