Paddington Is a Technical Triumph

People couldn't believe how cute and realistic he was. Combining animatronics and puppetry, Arti Shah works inside the suit, while James Hameed provides the voice and remote-control performance. The result is a bear who tilts his head, blinks, shuffles and expresses himself so well that you'd forget he's not an actual living creature.

The Staging Is Incredible

Director Luke Sheppard and designer Tom Pye create a London that feels bright, whimsical and full of movement. The show opens in Mr Gruber's curiosity shop and quickly expands into a world filled with swirling projections, drifting "lost bear" leaflets, confetti showers and the odd sneaky water jet.

Tom Fletcher's Songs Are Bangers

The score has won the ears of critics and audiences alike! Fletcher's songs are full of energy, clever theatrical references and big emotional beats. "Hard Stare" is cheeky fun, "Marmalade" delivers pure joy, and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt's villain number, "Pretty Little Dead Things," steals the spotlight.

The Brown Family Are Exactly as You Remember Them

Adrian Der Gregorian and Amy Ellen Richardson lead the Browns with warmth and comic ease, while Delilah Bennett-Cardy and Jasper Rowse bring just the right amount of teenage chaos. Bonnie Langford's Mrs Bird is exactly as she should be: sharp, loyal and absolutely scene-stealing. Together, they ground the show in the familiar, comforting heart of Paddington's story.

Expect Full-On, Cheeky Britishness

The production leans proudly into its British identity. You'll see Beefeaters, umbrellas, church bells, dustbin men who look straight out of Mary Poppins, and a wonderfully absurd sequence featuring the Geographers' Guild lecturing about empire and the Elgin Marbles. It's knowingly comic, always affectionate.
