Jim Broadbent, the beloved actor who has starred in block buster hits such as Moulin Rouge, War and Peace and Game of Thrones, dons the hat of the iconic story-teller, Hans Christian Andersen in this new play by three-time Olivier Award Winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Martin McDonagh.
Martin McDonagh, who's famed 'The Pillowman' was a London and Broadway hit, brings a twisted, hilarious and dangerous tale that dives deep into the imagination.
Hans Christian Andersen is loved by all for his intricate and spell bounding stories which capture the imaginations of children across the world. But the man behind the legends has a dark secret in the form of an unnamed woman kept in his attic upstairs, is she the source of his creativity?
Uninspired, disappointing, dark
Having heard the very mixed reviews for Martin McDonagh's A Very Very Very Dark Matter, I went in with an open mind. Unfortunately it wasn't too long into the play that I realised my opinion would be siding with the other unimpressed critics.
