The Assembled Parties
An incisive portrait of a family grasping for stability at the dawn of a new millennium
You would love the apartment, it's like the sets of those plays you love, with the "breezy dialogue"

Richard Greenberg's The Assembled Parties was a Broadway smash when it premiered in 2013, so much so that its run was extended three times. The play went on to earn three Tony Award nominations, including Best Play, and saw Judith Light scoop up the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for her role as Faye. Now, this virtuosic comedy-drama makes its Hampstead Theatre debut.
Tracy-Ann Oberman returns to Hampstead following her sell-out performances in Old Money and Godchild. Her recent theatre work includes The Merchant of Venice 1936 (RSC, West End, UK Tour), Mother of Him at the Park Theatre, and Present Laughter at Chichester Festival Theatre. Directing is Blanche McIntyre, back at Hampstead after her acclaimed productions of Letters from Max, Apex Predator, and the record-breaking The Invention of Love.
What's the Story?
It's 1980 in a sprawling Central Park West apartment, home to former movie star Julie Bascov and her sister-in-law Faye, who are bringing their families together for their traditional holiday dinner. But tonight, things are not as usual.
A houseguest has joined the festivities for the first time - and he unwittingly, or perhaps deliberately, insinuates himself into the family drama.
Twenty years later, as 2001 approaches, the Bascovs' picture-perfect life may be about to crumble.
Please note: The producers can't guarantee the appearance of any performers on any specific date.
