OVERACTING

Looked good, but wished I'd read the reviews. My sleep was interrupted by a periodical and awful cacophony and lights. Very predictable and overused storyline, overacting (amdram style) and a dinner party that I would have exited at the second page of the script. Very disappointed.

HORRIBLE

A cross between Abigail's Party and The Sixth Senth, this fell way short of the hype it came with. I should have read the audience reviews perhaps. Were it not for the ridiculous sound and light display at the end of each act, I would have slept right through. Thoroughly disappointing.

OBVIOUS

Great until you get to the end and it is a real stinker - obvious and doesn’t make sense!

MOST DISAPPOINTING!

Saw the play yesterday, August 2022, and, I'm afraid, disliked it on so many levels. I didn't engage with any of the characters. I didn't like any of the cast. I certainly didn't like the language. (Am I really old fashioned in being uncomfortable to have swear words in almost every alternate sentence? OK, know it's, sadly, the modern thing.) And I didn't find the plot in any way absorbing. Sorry to have nothing positive to report!

OVERACTED, WEAK SCRIPT....BASICALLY AWFUL!

It was by far the worse production I've seen in the west end. Church hall amateur dramatics at best.

THEMATIC MESS, POOR DIALOGUE

2:22 is a thematic mess. It jumps around from ghost story to comedy to marital drama undermining each theme as it switches. I'd say it is strongest as a comedy as the jokes can be quite good, but are usually followed by a few minutes of the main couple screaming at each other. The dialogue is fairly poor, maybe I have loved a blessed life, but I have never attended a dinner party where the attendees alternate between being at each others throats and playing cheerful drinking games whilst engaging in shallow philosophical debate on gentrification. The acting is fine although not great. The set is decent. There are no scares other than intermittent off stage screams (from foxes having sex hahaha...). To be fair I got the impression that the majority of the audience enjoyed the play but I myself don't recommend 2:22.

SADLY LET DOWN BY THE TERRIBLE ACTING

As a teacher of acting and a script writer, I had high hopes that this West End play would bring with it a strong storyline and top rate acting. sadly I was very disappointed on both counts. The script itself was not bad and could have provided an intriguing and atmospheric experience had it been approached in an intimate and naturalistic manner, instead, unfortunately, it was hammed up and over acted, especially the actress playing the drunk friend. I have never seen so many unmotivated and unnatural moves on a stage before. I felt embarrassed for the profession and thought my students could have done better. I think this play would be a good 6th form, studio play, even though the ending was predictable and unsatisfying.
