This is one screen-to-stage transition we're totally buggin' for! Beginning at the Trafalgar Theatre this February, don't miss this brand-new adaptation of Amy Heckerling's 1995 masterpiece, with book by Heckerling, music from KT Tunstall, lyrics from Glenn Slater and direction from Rachel Kavanaugh.
Following the story of uber-rich highschooler Cher Horowitz and her attempts to matchmaker those around her, Tunstall and Kavanagh promise a 90s nostalgia fest for audiences, with a soundtrack that will cover all the genres the decade is famed for, as inspired by the film's classic score.
At an event in London on Monday, Tunstall shared some previews of the new songs, including Greenday-inspired tune 'Human Barbie' for Josh, and a fantastic alt-rock title song for Cher. With heartfelt and pretty hilarious lyrics riffing on some of the movie's most quotable lines, we can say that the musical is totally in the right hands!
