What is The American Clock about?
The Great Depression is laid bare in this 'mural for theatre' by Arthur Miller, based upon the oral history 'Hard Times' by Stud Terkel. Beginning with the fortunes of the once prosperous Baum family who lost their wealth in the crash of '29, and told through the eyes of aspiring writer son Lee, Miller unravels a vast and compelling examination of the financial catastrophe and the impact felt across the entire country.
The American Clock runs at The Old Vic from 4th February through to the 30th March.
