In some of the best news since March 2020, Sir ALW himself was quick to denounce rumours that the West End staple was closed for good. Rather, the production is shutting temporarily to make some much-needed structural changes to both the set and the theatre itself.

Theatre fans around the world were shocked to hear news that the musical, one of the longest running in the world, was going to close. Shocked but not completely surprised, mind, thanks to the enormous strain the Corona-related shutdown has had on the West End and the UK's arts more generally.

A spokesman for ALW's Really Useful Group reassured fans that not only would the production be returning to London, but that it would also very much be the original production.
