An autumn of Wilde at his wildest in the West End

It's been years and years since we've seen Olly Alexander perform, and we've tired ourselves of Stephen Fry's audiobooks - but now, this is your chance to catch the stars in Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest in the West End!

After a completely sold-out run at the National Theatre and a hit NT Live cinema broadcast, Wilde's comedy of mistaken identities, absurd social codes, and the ultimate handbag moment is crossing the river to the Noel Coward Theatre from 18 September 2025 to 10 January 2026.

Who's In The Cast?

Joining Olly and Stephen on stage will be Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (The Trial of Christine Keeler, Angels in America) as Jack Worthing, the ever-iconic Stephen Fry as Lady Bracknell, Shobna Gulati as Miss Prism, and comedy favourite Hugh Dennis as Rev Canon Chasuble. The lineup also includes Kitty Hawthorne as Gwendolen, Jessica Whitehurst as Cecily, and Hayley Carmichael playing both Merriman and Lane.

What's The Story?

Jack and Algernon, two well-to-do bachelors in Victorian England, wish for some excitement in their lives. Both create an alter ego named Earnest and attempt to win the hearts of Gwendolen and Cecily - two women who, conveniently, claim only to love men called Earnest. As the pair struggles to keep up with their stories, the foursome becomes entangled in a tale of deception and misadventure.
